Business Development Leader (m/f) - Mass Retail, EMEA

INVISTA′s Apparel and Advanced Textiles business is a premier supplier of differentiated fibre products from a global manufacturing base with assets in Europe, USA, Mexico, Brazil, China and Singapore. INVISTA has set the goal of sustaining a world-class level of performance and we are looking for the right candidate with high motivation and ambitious drive to join our Apparel team.

  • The role is located in either Hattersheim, Germany, or Geneva, Switzerland. Alternatively, the position could be home based.


  • Execute INVISTA′s business strategy of growing its LYCRA® Fibre, COOLMAX® Fibre and THERMOLITE® Fibre in retail channels in Germany, focusing on active and outdoor segments.
  • Seek new growth opportunities and extend business into other key markets (e.g. UK and France).
  • Represent INVISTA as a company and value sell its capabilities, products, innovations and brands to gain new opportunities in other Apparel garment sectors.
  • Act as a link between Sales, Technical and Marketing to provide market feedback on trends, new product ideas, marketing platforms and other innovations.

Essential requirements

  • University degree or equivalent in a related field.
  • Sales or marketing experience in Apparel, specifically in the Mass Retail market and / or related value chains.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish long-term client relationships by building a detailed knowledge of client needs, leading to the development of existing and new client accounts.
  • Previous experience of developing and building brand awareness / unique selling points and working with sales teams to identify new target markets / contacts.
  • A sound technical background in a fibres, fabrics or textiles business.
  • Evidence of an innovative, entrepreneurial, tenacious and self-motivated approach to account management and business development.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in an international arena, including highly developed negotiation, presentation and networking skills.
  • Proven economic / strategic / analytical thinker, with ability to prioritize economically and evaluate risks in a highly changeable environment.
  • Behaviour driven by integrity, humility and ethics.
  • Fluent in German and English.
  • Flexibility to travel approx. 60% within Germany, Europe and occasionally Asia.

Desirable requirements

  • Knowledge of the textile value-chain and ingredient branding.
  • Other EU languages advantageous.
