Der Titel verlor aufgrund revidierter Aussichten für das erste Quartal massiv auf ein Jahrestief.

Könnte eine Chance sein hier einzusteigen. Nachdem der Titel letzte Woche noch auf 18 Dollar war, ist der Einbruch relativ massiv ausgefallen.

Aber wie man aufgrund der hohen Kursschwankungen sieht, zu Recht hier unter high risk abgelegt.

Rackable Systems Hits Yearly Low



(RTTNews) - Rackable Systems (RACK) dropped to a 52-week low on Thursday after reducing earnings expectations. The stock gapped open lower and drifted down until about 2 p.m. It closed at $14.24, a decline of $2.64. This is its lowest finish since October of 2005. The drop takes the stock below a month-long trading range.

Wednesday after the bell, Rackable revealed its revised financial guidance for the first quarter, currently expecting a net loss. The company said severe competitive business conditions at its major customers had an adverse effect on the bottom line results during first quarter.

Rackable Systems (RACK - Cramer's Take - Stockpickr - Rating) slumped 15.6% after the server-maker warned that it would post a first-quarter loss. The company now sees gross margin falling 30% lower than its previous forecast. Rackable blamed the gross margin pressure on an "intensity of competition" in its largest accounts.

The company also expects higher operating expenses, which are due, in part, to one-time charges associated with the cancellation of an order from a customer. Expenses also will be higher because of severance charges and charges related to sales and use-tax exposures from past sales to various customers. The company still expects to post revenue of $70 million to $75 million. Analysts polled by Thomson First Call project earnings of 5 cents a share on revenue of $73.8 million. Shares closed down $2.64 to $14.24.

Rackable Systems weiter auf Talfahrt.

Ein neues Jahrestief bei 11.27. Von ca. 35 im November 06 auf 11.27 gestern, alleine aufgrund der kurzfristigen Verluste wegen tieferer Margen. Ich denke da liegt noch Reserve drin, wenn die Panikverkäufe mal ein Ende haben.
Rack ist aber flächendeckend heruntergestuft worden. PE ratio von Gewinn auf Verlust gedreht und der Kurs ist runtergesaust.

Sicher ein high risk, aber längerfristig denke ich müsste sich die Aktie massiv erholen.

Rackable Systems (Nasdaq: RACK) needs to look for new customers. The server-system designer has leaned much too heavily on its top three accounts, and it's coming back to haunt the company now. Like John Lyly in the National Poetry Month contribution above, Rackable is hungry for new meat and drink.

Don't just take my word for it -- CEO Tom Barton said as much in last night's earnings release. He called the company's dependence on its biggest customers a "key factor affecting our performance during the quarter," as competitors moved in with aggressive bids to steal Rackable's prize partners.

As the company defended its turf in the data centers of Yahoo! (Nasdaq: YHOO), Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT), and Amazon.com (Nasdaq: AMZN), mainly by lowering contract prices, revenue fell 15% year over year. The cost of filling those orders remains rather fixed, so gross margins were nearly cut in half, and it's a downhill slide from there. The net loss this time was 70% larger than last year's net profit, even after a sizable tax benefit reduced bottom-line bleeding by 37%.

Rackable does have other sales accounts, with respectable businesses like Schlumberger (NYSE: SLB) and some of the nation's top research institutes and universities. But it seems obvious that greater diversity would benefit this company tremendously. With the likes of Dell (Nasdaq: DELL) and Hewlett-Packard (NYSE: HPQ) putting the squeeze on Rackable's core business, it's high time to send the sales force north and south, in search of supplemental income sources -- and workaday meat and potatoes would do just as well as any exotic dish.

Ist gegen Abend wieder auf 11.6 hinauf und ist heute weiter auf Erholungskurs.
Eine Hochrisikoaktie aber doch nicht nur auf Sand gebaut.
Ich denke mittelfristig ist da einiges gutzumachen.
Rack hat einen neuen CEO, welcher mit viel Erfahung das Geschäft weiterführt.
Lasst Euch aber nicht zu etwas verleiten. Prüft selbst, bevor ihr entscheidet.

Offenbar ist hier sonst niemand an rack interessiert. Eigentlich schade.

Eine Aktie die gestern ihr Allzeittief sah, in einer Zeit wo die Börsen neue Allzeithochs sehen, weckt halt nicht unbedingt mein Interesse, vor allem wenn ich noch so vieles auf der Einkaufsliste habe. Jetzt könnte man ja noch mit Contrarian-Strategie argumentieren. Aber auch da hab ich noch andere Einfälle. Da musst du also schon schlagende Fakten bringen...

Ueberzeugen will ich hier gar niemanden. Das läger mir fern. Gerade bei einem doch riskanten Einsatz. Aber aufmerksam machen und dann allenfalls dafür und darwider diskutieren, das schon.

Was steht denn bei dir noch auf der Einkaufsliste?

Ich hab momentan 86 Titel auf meiner Rückschlagliste. Sagt zumindest die Datenbank. Je nach Börsenwetterlage und aktueller Aktienkursentwicklung gewichte ich dann Stärke, Risiko, Volatilität, Bewertung, Kauf- und Verkaufskurs etc. täglich etwas unterschiedlich, was mir dann wieder ganz neue Favoriten auf's Tablett bringt. Was also morgen auf dem Tablett liegen wird, weiss ich selber noch nicht.

Aber es gibt auch noch so zwanzig Titel, die in der "Kopfliste" liegen und ständig präsent sind. Das sind dann wohl die, die der geneigte Leser kennt, da ich über die manchmal berichte.

Ich schreib mal weiter hier, auch wenn kein Schwei ...(zer) sich dafür zu interessieren scheint. L'art pour l'art sozusagen.

Rack hat gestern nach vielen schlechten Nachrichten ziemlich zulegen können 5% intraday. Gehe davon aus, dass diese Nachricht ausschalggebend war.

Rackable System hat heute im pre trading von 12.60 auf 13.60 aufgeholt.
Seit sie in der Führungsetage etwas reinen Tisch gemacht haben geht der Kurs doch ansprechend nach oben.
Bei Rack sind die gesunkenen Margen das Hauptproblem. Das schläft natürlich etwas auf den Gewinn. Aber der Kurseinbruch seit den letzten Zahlen scheint mir doch etwas übertrieben und Potenzial nach oben noch verfügbar.
Mal schauen wie es heute weiter geht.
